General Summary
Tentative interview date will be June 14th and tentative start date will be July 9th
Provides economic development and redevelopment planning, marketing and research work in support of the City's Economic Development Strategic plan. Responsibilities include coordinating and implementing projects and programs that support commercial, office and industrial development; business attraction; business retention; development of public facilities and infrastructure; small business development initiatives; and other economic development, redevelopment or capital improvement programs or projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The intent of this

job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.


Marketing



+ Designs a variety of promotional/marketing materials for the purposes of business attraction and retention; prepares marketing materials and sends to target industries and businesses.

+ Makes marketing presentations, conducts tours; meets with new and existing business representatives; responds to businesses interested in relocating or expanding in the City.

+ Assists with web site development and updates. Responsible for the creation and distribution of electronic marketing campaigns designed to support business development, and business retention.

+ Integrates effective marketing and outreach programs and activities with business development; communicates with local businesses to identify business needs and issues facing local enterprises, including barriers to growth; identifies and implements services

+ Plans, schedules and coordinates special events.

+ Writes articles, fliers and other publications; updates, designs, and edits a variety of printed material including brochures, community profiles and other promotional / marketing materials.










Minimum and Preferred Entrance Qualifications



Education and Experience



+ A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, economic development, marketing, urban planning or a related field.



+ At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, marketing, business attraction, community development, planning or a related field.





Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



+ Certified Economic Developer (CEcD)


Licenses or Certifications



+ Possession of (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire) a standard driver license


OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS



Regular out of state travel is required to attend trade shows, generate leads, and business prospecting. Irregular hours are required to support evening and weekend programs and events.

Vacation: Full time positions accrue 88 hours of vacation leave per year for the first 3 years of service; accruals increase with years of service.


Sick Leave: Full time positions accrue 96 hours of sick leave/year.


Holidays: Full time positions (minimum 40 hours per week) accrue 10 paid holidays and one floating holiday per year. Holidays include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.


Health Insurance: Positions with a minimum of 40 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits. Paid employee life insurance, AD&D, short and long-term disability benefits for full time positions.


Retirement Benefits: Positions with a minimum of 40 hours per week are eligible for are provided retirement Benefits through ASRS and PSPRS. Part-Time positions that work 20 hours or more in a 20 week period are eligible for ASRS.
