Position Description:
Job Summary
The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Biometrics System Engineer to work in Ft. Huachuca, AZ to support the Biometrics Automated Toolset-Army (BAT-A) Sustainment Program working pursuant to the CECOM Software Engineering Center engineering support contract.
This position will support the BAT-A Systems Integration Facility at Ft. Huachuca, which provides technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and maintenance support for BAT-A systems deployed to multiple locations worldwide.
This position will report to the BAT-A Technical Lead at Ft. Huachuca and be responsible for providing support to users of BAT-A systems affected by changes to system software, unique hardware configurations, network challenges, and accreditation boundaries for forward deployed sites. In addition, this position will support the operational Data Center performing ingestion & coordination of the Biometrics Enabled Watch List among US agencies, the DoD, and forward deployed locations.
Primary Responsibilities
List daily duties and/or specific job responsibilities.
- Responsible for evaluating hardware and software issues and failures of the BAT-A system
- Support system testing and validation, software patching and implementation, system checks, and repairs
- Ensure daily operation of servers and network communication in the Data Center
- Assist in testing and maintaining the BAT image for the SEEK, server, and laptop
- Support the coordination of the Biometrics Enabled Watch List
- Perform transaction reconciliation
- Implement system upgrades to include planning, scheduling, testing, managing, and coordinating network availability
The personnel will be modifying software source code for specific sites in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Qatar, and for other deployed locations that have different operations requirements and cyber boundaries. In addition, these personnel are working with the PL BAT-A equipment suppliers and the forward deployed units using the BAT-A Hardware to come up with unique hardware configurations and all of the documentation that has to be provided to allow accreditations for these forward deployed sites.
Basic Qualifications
- Must possess a minimum of a DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to be read on for SCI
- Previous experience with biometrics hardware devices and software
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Engineering or Technical Discipline from an accredited college and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience. Bachelor's Degree may be substituted with 8 additional years' experience in troubleshooting hardware, networking, SQL Server and Windows Operating Systems.
- Candidate possesses and maintains certifications to enable a DoD 8570, IAT Level II appointment. Baseline and Computing Environment certifications required.
- Candidate possesses proven ability to create and execute scripts for system administration/setup, examine firewalls and ports to identify and fix communication issues, perform maintenance, and ensure data integrity and synchronization
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of US Military Biometrics, ISR, and SIGINT Systems.
- Excellent team building and personnel motivational skills.
- Prior US Military/Government experience.
- Knowledge of and Experience with software languages, to include: Visual Basic 6.0, COM, COM+, C/C++, C#, .NET, and XML
- Knowledge of and Experience with MS Windows 7/10, MS SQL Server 2008/2012 R2, MS .NET Framework 4, MS Visual Studio, IBM Rational System Architect, and VMware
